To start off our Spring Break Mike and I left the kids at home with the in-laws for 3 days and headed off to Las Vegas! We left early Saturday morning and came home Monday. So a very fast trip but we had a lot of fun! We had fun hanging out just the two of us, walking around and sightseeing, etc. Saturday night we went and saw the Cirque De Soleil show "KA" at MGM Grand Hotel. It was so cool! I have never seen anything like it before in my life! So awesome!! The next day we got up early and headed off to watch NASCAR! Neither of us have ever been to NASCAR before and we were so excited! Mike's sister JaeLynn is dating a guy {Wayne} that had tickets to one of the suits there and they invited us to go with them. And let me tell you it was quite the experience! We all absolutely LOVED it! I never thought I would enjoy NASCAR and I loved every minute of it!!!
Here are just a few pictures we got of the experience! When you first get there you get to walk under the track through this really long tunnel and you come up out of it in the center of the whole thing! We got to walk around right up close to the cars - close enough to touch! At one point we were even standing on the actual race track and had to scoot over as they brought some of the cars right past us onto the track to start getting lined up and ready to race! It was crazy!
Mike and I thoroughly enjoying ourselves down on the track! So cool to see the cars so close!
Wayne, Jae, Emily & Mike:
We had to get pics of the M&M car for the kids! Well, not the actual car but the truck that is on the track where all the tools are kept to fix the car during the race!
The car they were pushing on the track that we had to get out of the way for:
When it got closer to race time we got to go on top of the roof of the main grandstands to watch the ceremony and start of the race. Here is the view of it all happening below us:
Cars all lined up and ready to race!
At the beginning of the race - after the National Anthem - all these Jets flew over head multiple times! It was really neat and REALLY loud! It vibrated the whole stands! Being up on top of the roof it was literally right over our heads! So cool!
All the cars making their first loops around the track following the pace car.
And they are off!!! I couldn't believe how loud it all was when, first of all the cars started up their engines, and second of all, when they all took off rally racing! SO loud! It was actually nice to be sitting in a suit for most of it because we got to be inside out of the heat as well as out of the noise and the smell! :)
It was such an amazing experience and one that we will not soon forget!!!
