Second Grade.....Complete!

Shawn got on the Principal's Honor Roll for his grades in 4th Quarter. Here he is getting his award at the "4th Quarter Assembly" on the last day of school. (He's on the back row, 2nd from the right, in the khaki shorts and white shirt.) Good job Shawn! Principal's Honor Roll all 4 quarters! Woot woot! :)

{I can't believe my baby is going to be in Third Grade next year!}

Bubbles and.....Santa?

Why do all kids think it's SO funny in a bubble bath to put the bubbles on their chin, like a beard, and pretend they are Santa Claus?

Ready, Set, Go!!!

Last weekend we went for a "family walk" around the block. The two older kids rode their bikes (still with training wheels). Then we decided it was about time that we teach them to ride.....without training wheels! They both were ready and wanting to learn. And boy did they pick up on it quick! Within about 2 minutes they were riding all on their own. They didn't go very far at a time at first, but now a week later they are just cruising! :) And I'm proud to say we didn't even have any of those bad, first-time crashes! Mike taught them really well right off that if the bike starts to tip, then put your foot down and catch yourself before you fall. (As in the picture of Brady below.)

They both got the hang of it so fast I was surprised! Shawn was even able to teach Brady how to start himself by kicking off (with one foot already on a pedal). It was so fun to watch them learning this new skill!

And about 10 minutes later..... "Look Ma! No feet!" :)

Always a fun thing to watch your kids learn how to do new things. I suppose they'll have lots of fun this summer with their new "bike riding skillz"!!!

Sittin' on the fence...

.....is one of this 5 year old's new favorite things to do!

Brady has recently taught himself how to climb onto our brick wall in the backyard. He goes out there and sits on top of the fence and talks with his friend Camille (lives next door.) Brady and Camille are such good friends and they play together almost every day lately! They have so much fun together! It makes me nervous to have him up there on that fence, but he assures me he is careful. What a funny way to chat with the neighbors, silly boy! :)

Football Fun!

Shawn played NFL Flag Football with his school again this spring. He loves it! He had a pretty good little team too. Last Saturday was their last game this season. Shawn's team won 30-2! {The other team only got 2 points because a little boy on Shawn's team got a safety. Oops!} Here are a couple shots of them out on the field during the game.

Way to go Mustangs! Great Season!

Take me out to the ball game!

Friday, May 7th we took the kids and went to the Diamondbacks Baseball Game here in Phoenix. It was so much fun! The kids love to go see the games, hang out, eat ball park food, and do some of the fun activities they have there for kids. Here are Shawn and Brady with their "eye stripes" (stickers) on and swinging their "bats" (rolled up programs).

Connor actually had a lot of fun too. He was so fun to watch - he would clap and cheer when the crowd would, he would sing and dance to the music, and all sorts of things! Yup, all the kids had a blast!

One of the funniest things was when Connor decided he didn't want his corndog and he kept trying to feed it to Shawn. the kids sure thought that was hilarious! :)

Even though the D-Backs lost, it was still a good time! And there was a fireworks show after the game was over so that made it even better! Fun night together as a family!

2nd Grade Math Bee

Shawn was in the 2nd Grade Math Bee this year. All 4 classes held their own first, and the top 8 kids from each class made it to the one for the entire grade (making 32 kids in all). Shawn was 2nd in his class so he went on to the one for the grade. Here are the kids all waiting for the Math Bee to start. (Sorry for blurry and/or dark pics. I never can get good ones in this room at the school!)

Shawn made it past the first round, which took it from 32 kids down to 16. Then he made it past the second round, which took it from 16 down to 8 kids. (The picture below is him and the girl he was against in the 2nd round.) In the third round (8 kids to 4) is when he got out. The boy that got him out was the one who won the entire Math Bee! :)

We are so proud of Shawn! He is such a smart kid and always tries his very best in school! I'm lucky to have a boy that enjoys school and loves to learn! Hope the other 2 kids will follow in his footsteps on that one! :) Good j0b Shawn on your 2nd Grade Math Bee! You did awesome!!!

What am I going to do?

Brady and Connor are such good buddies! With Shawn at school all day, these two have really bonded and had so much fun playing together! Connor absolutely adores Brady! He adores Shawn too, but he's really gotten to know Brady this school year. So that leaves me with one question...

What am I going to do next year when Brady is at school too???
