Last Summer Fling.....

We decided to have on last "summer fling" before school started on Monday. So we headed up to Flagstaff, AZ Friday night to begin our "Sports Fun Day"! (Saturday) :)

Saturday Morning we woke up and headed over to the Cardinals Training Camp there in Flagstaff. It had been raining all night and was still raining that morning, so they moved it to the indoor practice field. Which was fine so we didn't have to sit out in the rain, but we still had to stand outside in the line in it.! Here are the boys outside waiting for the doors to open to go in. Me and the kids actually stood under the side of the building where the roof covered us so we didn't get all wet.

But these two (Mike and his dad) had to stand in the pouring rain in the LONG line to hold our place. So nice of them to do that so we could be out of the rain!

Inside the boys got to meet "Big Red". It actually wasn't the normal one - he was a lot smaller than the Big Red at the football games. So my kids call him "Little Big Red" :)

And here is Connor with one of the flags we got for free when we came in the doors.

After we got inside, they let all the kids 12 years and under (with their parents) come onto the field to get autograph's from some of the football players. Here are the long lines of people waiting to get autographs. It was pretty nuts!!!

#55 Joey Porter

Our kids getting his autograph.

I can't remember these guys names. :)

And one of our very favorites - #34 Tim Hightower!

Here are the boys getting his autograph. (Sorry the pictures are so bad/blurry - I left my camera up in my diaper bag with my Father-in-law so I had to take all these with my cell phone)

Due to lack of camera (and you aren't allowed to take "posed" pictures with the players due to lack of time and so many people to sign things for) I didn't get many pictures of players, but we did end up with quite a few autographs! Here are the picture frames that my kids had signed:

One of our favorites we got was from rookie Max Hall (QB from BYU!) - he wrote on Shawn's "Go Cougs!" Shawn thought that was pretty cool!

After the autograph session was over it was time to take our seats to watch the practice and the Red/White Scrimmage. Here we all are:

The players warming up and then doing a bunch of drills and things:

Red & White Scrimmage:

It was fun to be there! After the practice was over, we jumped in the car (with it STILL raining!) and headed back down to Phoenix for a little Diamondbacks Baseball Game to finish off our "sports day!" It happened to be the night they were retiring #20 to Luis Gonzalez. So they had a whole ceremony for that before the game started. It was pretty cool to be able to be there for that!

A couple of the gifts they gave him:

His retired # 20 - the very first number ever to be retired by an Arizona Diamondback!

The ceremony - Luis Gonzalez speaking to everyone.

Our kids love to go to the baseball games. Shawn and Connor love to play on the play place they have there for kids. :)

Here is Shawn chillin' out and doing the word search in the D-Backs magazine.

And our cute little Connor being a goofball as always! We sure do love this kid! :)

I had a cool picture of Brady too, but somehow it dot deleted from my camera. Oops!
Overall it was a fun day! Very long, but very fun! Good way to end our Summer Vacation and head back into this next school year!
