4th of July = Connor's 3rd B-day!!!

I LOVE the 4th of July!!! In our family, not only do we get to celebrate our wonderful country that we are blessed to live in, and the freedoms that we have, but we also get to celebrate the birth of our sweet little Connor David! This 4th of July he turned THREE years old!
To celebrate, here is the red,white and blue toes I sported for a couple weeks:

This year for the 4th we did something kinda crazy! I ended up not having to babysit any kids that week, so we drove up to Utah and surprised our families (well, mostly my family - Mike's parents knew -and most his siblings- before we even got there) by visiting them for a week!!! They had no idea that we were coming until I showed up at my sister-in-laws wedding shower that Saturday morning. I walked in the door and they all looked at me, did a double take (took them a minute to register that it was me), then everyone squealed and couldn't believe we were there! It was SO fun to surprise everyone and to be able to be there for a week!!!

That Saturday (July 2nd) Mike had bought a few fireworks that he wanted to do with the kids for fun. Here they are all lined up on the Sidewalk watching:
{Connor, Brady, my nephew Steven, my sister Jenna, and Shawn}

That evening we went to the West Jordan Rodeo with Mike's family. We love to go to the rodeo on 4th of July weekend - something we do almost every year when we can be in Utah for it. :) After the rodeo was over, we went back to McDougal's house and did fireworks! We invited my family (Reids) over too and so there was a big group of us doing them. Mike wasn't going to be able to do them with us on the 4th of July (his flight home to work for the week was in the late evening - right when we'd be doing them) and he wanted to make sure he got some good fireworks into his holiday weekend. In Utah this year they made the fireworks that go up into the sky legal, so we bought a couple of those too -- it was so much fun!!! Quite the fireworks show put on by Mike and my brothers. :)
The kids all had a lot of fun doing sparklers and watching the fireworks!

On Monday morning - the 4th of July and Connor's Birthday - we went to the West Jordan 4th of July parade -- another one of our favorite things to do! Here we all are just hanging out waiting for it to start.
{Jenna, Shawn & Brady on the curb, Steven, Marianela, me & Connor, and my Grandma & Grandpa Dayley.}
And the cute Birthday Boy himself!!!
He was SO cute when we got to the parade that morning - he looked around, and while grinning from ear to ear, said "All this is for me?!?!" It was so cute and so funny! He thought everyone was there to have this huge parade just for him for his birthday! :) lol

My brother Steven with his then fiance (now wife) Marianela, and her son Steven David
Marianela and Steven David are from Ecuador and had only been living here in the US for a month at this point. So this was their very first 4th of July holiday ever! It was so fun to be able to share it with them!

After the parade was over we took our kids and walked around the little fair they have there in West Jordan. We bought some tickets and let each of the kids pick a couple rides to go on. Again, Connor thought this was so cool and all for him for his birthday! :)

This is the cake I made for Connor for his birthday. This year he actually had an opinion of what kind of cake and frosting he wanted. When we asked him what kind of cake he wanted he told us "A cars cake with brown frosting, you know, like chocolate milk!" {Oh I just can't get enough of this cute kid!!!} :) So he got what he wanted! And here is how it turned out after I decorated it - I think it turned out pretty cute! And the cars were new toy cars that then he got to keep and play with - the Mater even talks!
We had a BBQ for dinner with homemade root-bear and everything! It was so yummy! And it was such perfect weather that the kids had fun eating picnic-style on the grass outside!

After dinner we all gathered around and had Connor open his presents. That of course was his favorite part of the day! :) Lots of Cars things and a few other fun little toys -- anything makes this kid happy!

Then it was time for cake and homemade ice cream before we had to take daddy to the airport. Connor was all smiles! He LOVED all the attention!!!
Just a couple random pics I took of Connor in my mom's backyard. We love this kid so much and are so very blessed and happy to have him in our home! He brings us lots of laughs and smiles and love everyday! He is growing up so fast - I can't believe he's 3 already!
Happy Birthday Connor!!!
And Happy 4th of July everyone else!!!
